No nonsense title for a no nonsense affair. Yeah, it’s that time of my life already – I’m looking for a university.
The Higher Education Conference happened at the University of Northampton yesterday, so I got out of doing DT and Maths for that day, which was probably the best thing ever. Anyway. We made our own way to this thing, which was more like one of those school fetes you got when you were small. Every university had their own little stand to attract you – either by means of courses or free pens – to them.
After some careful research (Well… 20 minutes the night before) I decided I wanted to study something to do with media and design in a digital format. So like designing stuff for the Internet, billboards, TV perhaps. That sort of stuff. It sounded fun, and the course I like the sound of most was at the University of Chester. I headed there, first, and sort of got side-tracked.
So after one hour, 16 universities, 14 prospectuses, 4 complimentary plastic bags, a flower-shaped highlighter and a stress man called Gordon later, I arrive home. That’s what I lugged around for an hour. Trust me, those books are heavy. It’s best to order them through the post, I’d say. But the conference idea just goes to show how much choice there is out there.
That night I sorted it down to just 5. In that picture there, from left to right, it’s Wolverhampton (One my sister went to but came back after a term there), Lincoln, Westminster, Chester, and Plymouth. Now I didn’t exactly read the prospectuses to see what life’s like there, I just looked at the courses they offered. A quick gander at Unistats.com, it says Westminster would be the best skills-wise, Lincoln for being happy and Plymouth for getting a job. Sorry, Wolverhampton and Chester…
Looks like I’ve got some thinking to do over the weekend, then, as well as some homework. Great.
