Hello Europe!

It’s that time of year again. It’s that time where we can show the rest of the world that they suck (Or, just America) and we can have fun without them. The campest competition makes a return tonight – The Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia.

It’s something nobody wants to admit to enjoying, in fear of being held in submission for a few weeks, but who couldn’t adore last years classic? That’s what the Eurovision is all about – I mean nobody wins anything apart from a financial deficit by hosting it the next year, so why not just go crazy and make a song everyone will love.

Andy Abraham. No Really. Last year wasn’t very fun, so let’s change it in Belgrade. We’ve got Andy Abraham for the UK, who a few of you will know lost to Shane Ward in the X Factor a couple of years ago. Where… is Shane Ward now…

Anyway. This guy used to be a dustman, which is probably what Shane Ward is doing now. How ironic. Anyway, his song ‘Even If’ is in the Youtube thing at the top to listen to, which we voted for against some really rubbish acts, so yeah, go us. We won’t win, we never do nowadays, but anything’s better than Scooch’s 19 points, one from bottom finish last year.

So what have us Europeans got to look forward to in this years competition? Well, I don’t really know, but I know that Ireland’s Dustin the Turkey won’t be in it, thank god. (I love how the audience is all stunned when watching that show). I fancy the chances of Spain’s entry Baila a Chiki Chiki which should win, in my opinion. I could’ve looked at the rest of the entries, but then what would I have to make me laugh when it’s on the TV besides Terry Wogan?

So let’s, for one night anyway, forget America. This is Europe-time. Ne riez pas de nous. :)
