Tomorrow is the day of the BlogTV Birthday Marathon of one Charlieissocoollike (aka Charlie from YouTube)’s birthday. To celebrate this, some really random thing’s have been happening. So yeah, this is a geek post.

To celebrate his 18th birthday, Charlie has been doing a seven-hour BlogTV show to his fans. BlogTV is the sort of “live" YouTube” where all of the big YouTube names go to do a live blog. Most of them are quite entertaining and Charlie’s just get about 700 pre-teen fan girls going after him for his apparently sexy hair. Well…

On his birthday last year, his Nan died of cancer. So, in honour of his grandma, this whole session is a sponsored session for Cancer Research UK. People can donate to the sponsored show through the Justgiving website. This was promoted through his own YouTube channel as well as the fiveawesomeguys YouTube channel. As a result of having so many fan girls, this figure shot up even before the show had began.

As an incentive to get people to donate, he promised to shave off his precious hair if people did. His YouTube friend, Nerimon (aka Alex) joined him for this show and if the donation count went over £3000 he would shave off his famous hair too. Both of these happened and after it did, he lost about half his viewers.

They both dyed their hair before shaving it off. Charlie went for a fetching redhead (Well, ginger) tone while Alex went for blonde after a vote. Unfortunately, I watched this show the majority of the time it was happening. It was in the background – don’t worry, I’m not that sad – but still quite entertaining.

I just thought it was a good idea of a way to raise money and have fun at the same time. So go donate, even if you didn’t see the show – It’s a good cause.
