As I’ve already mentioned, I was at Leicester today. As a result, I missed the third flashmob in Northampton – The Bandana Man Flashmob.
For those who don’t know, outside Woolworths on Abington Street in Northampton Town Centre, there plays a man – a bandana man – singing songs and playing some awesome tunes. His name’s Robin Philips and is probably best known for his catchy rendition of Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire.
The flash was to, when ‘the predator’ came to request a song, everyone got round and cheered and danced for the song and, when he finished, chuck some change and leave again. While it’s not really a true flashmob (hence why I wasn’t so annoyed missing this one) it certainly made the busker happy.
He has a MySpace profile with some of his songs on it. He’s not a tramp, in the nicest way possible, neither. He’s just a normal guy earning a living away from the middle man.
Hope I don’t miss the next flashmob, which I hope will be more awesome and possibly as helpful as this one too. Anything which involves seeing a mosh pit in Abby Street is fine by me.

Any chance of doing a flashmob at Sixfields in Northampton? All turn up at 3pm on a Saturday for a Cobblers home match, sing, dance and cheer for 90 minutes (plus 15 minutes half-time) and then disperse suddenly just after the ref blows the final whistle of a Cobblers’ win .
Ah go on
@Sean: I think we’ll make it… oh… every saturday. And sometime’s we’ll do it in different stadiums, depending on where Northampton play.
Sounds like a great idea.
Too bad most people can’t seem to do that. :\
Wonder how the Walsall game will go. Couldn’t go to that on account of having a severe lack of money. Shame.
thinking of arranging a mob to sing maybe Stevie Wonders Happy Birthday for my Wife on Jan 23rd (or close by) Thought of taking her to watch a film and letting it all kick of prior.
We are in Kettering
Any thoughts, suggestions or costs?
