It’s now officially been a year since I started helping out at the Boy’s Brigade. I remember blogging about it last year and, like this year, the game night was crazy and hectic.
There were about 13 or 14 teams of four kids playing a variety of games. That’s two too many, considering we only had about 11 or 12 games. So the rest just ate biscuits and drank orange squash for four minutes while they weren’t playing games. They seemed to enjoy free stuff.
I was put in charge of a maze game. But you’ve got to go square by square on this grid, move only one space sideways or forward and not diagonal, and you need to remember the path the person before you had taken. It’s really not a hard game, but trying to explain it to people who would rather say “SEX!” really loudly is a difficult task.
There were so many groups that not everyone played every game before it got to half 8 and time for everyone to leave. That’s a shame. But from my game, it looks like our group, the Third, did the best. We’ll wait until the scores come in.
But the kids are so awesome. It’s much easier when ADHD kid isn’t there, but when he is it’s still tolerable. I’ll miss it when I go to uni.
