Christmas?

Was it just me, or was Christmas entirely uneventful this year?

Something awesome usually happens – either someone gets a massive present, there’s something awesome on TV, or someone nearly dies (to be fair, the last one did happen, but I didn’t see it, so it doesn’t count…) but nothing really happened. Sure, we had a massive dinner and loads of family around, but still, it was a little more… everyday than I remember.

I’m not really talking from experience, here. I’ve only had seventeen Christmas’ ever. I know when you’re younger, it’s more of a big deal. You’re counting down to it for twenty-four days with a teasing chocolate each day beforehand. Maybe because I didn’t particularly want anything this Christmas (apart from a car, but that’s a bit hard to wrap up) and I’ve grown out of the Christmas specials going on TV, but I didn’t enjoy it.

WallaceGromit460 The best part of Christmas TV this year, I thought, was either the Royle Family Christmas special or the new Wallace and Gromit film – Two Great British efforts.

I’d never seen an entire Royle Family episode beforehand, and loved it. Also, Wallace and Gromit is true Christmas telly, regardless of the year or your age. "Wallace and Gromit – A Matter of Loaf and Death" was the most watched programme this Christmas, with 14.3 million (53%) watching it.

"Doctor Who – The Next Doctor" was the next popular show, with 11.7 million views. I watched that warily as I remember last Christmas, the hour long special was on for about an hour too long. This year’s went on for about a quarter of an hour too long, but still, too long.

The BBC had this Christmas covered, really. The ratings say for themselves. The only programme in the top ten not on BBC One was Coronation Street (Which, to be fair, was quite awesome)

But yeah. Thanks to everyone for my presents. :) You can see a summary of what I got in a rather elaborate 12seconds post I made:

Christmas in 12Seconds on 12seconds.tv

Enjoy the rest of 2008, yeah?

I know what you mean. I’ve been bored the whole holiday, and thinking back on it, I’ve actually done more than I usually do. TV wise the whole thing was just a bit shit…I didn’t even get to watch The Great Escape once :/ but yeah the Royal Family was awesome and I’d never watched any episodes before either so new fan. The Doctor Who seemed even more…’God bless us, everyone” than ever before = rubbishness.
    Funny 12 seconds
