It’s a new year, with a new outlook. So I thought I’d catch up with some old friends, y’know. The one’s you’ve lost contact with over time. The friends of friends, the friends of past schools and the friends of times gone by. Ahh, nostalgia.
Really it started on Facebook with a few old friends adding me back in October time. It was like "Oh, it’s you, I remember you.
", but never really talked all that much. I’ve talked to them in the past week or so, and turns out most of them from KMCS have turned to chavs. No real surprise there, then, seeing as most of them went to KCC (or KC now, or whatever) and naturally, its reputation follows it.
Perhaps one of the sadder stories I found on my little tour is that my old art teacher Miss Davey died on the 2nd of January. We joked she was an alcoholic, had one eye, a peg leg among other such things, but we loved her really. Such an awesome teacher. Hope she’s happy in the big art studio in the sky. KMCS people can join the group on Facebook if you want.
Next is to reintroduce myself to old friends of friends I got to know a few years ago. A little bit awkward because half of them I didn’t properly get to know in the first place. Mainly these people are Canadian/known through Jordan, but there’s a few others. Sounds like they didn’t particularly want to talk to me, which us understandable.
By the sounds of it, these people didn’t have all that much of a great new year, or a good start to 2009. Well, I can relate to that I suppose. But hey, they’re all happy now, so that’s fab.
Then it’s the past friends group. Half of these people are hard to get hold of, but for those I manage to grab a quick natter to, they all seemed fine. Nice to see they actually knew who I was, which is always a start. There’s one doing their driving test in February, another ones fathering a child. Okay, so one I can relate to, the other I can’t. The latter was an awkward conversation.
So yeah. It’s nice to catch up with old friends. If only I didn’t have to…
