Wait, Sickipedia is bad now?

Those who know me well, know I tell a lot of quite bad topical jokes. Those who know me well enough know that I steal them from a site call Sickipedia. The clue’s sort of in the name – It’s claimed to be the largest collection of sick jokes on the Internet. It’s never been the most politically correct website around, but since when has the Internet been politically correct?

I log onto the site today to be greeted by this:

A light-hearted, but still apparently necessary, warning

…followed by lots of jokes about it being ‘such a bad site’ (obviously, pointing fun at the media while doing it). So I go and have a gander at the news this past week.

I find this story – from none other than the ‘trusty’ South Yorkshire Star – about Sickipedia being condemned for making sick jokes about that Francesca Anobile story (You know, the car roof sledge barbed-wire fence girl?). Urr, hello? The clue’s in the title. Sickipedia.

It’s not the first time Sickipedia’s been under attack. In 2007, this guy got 160 hours of community service for posting on the site. Okay, so he was a person who posted many jokes about minorities, so they could sort of pin the blame on one person. But still, come on.

I’m not saying the jokes are okay to say in public, I’m saying that there’s a lot worse on the Internet right now than someone saying "Francesca’s like her family – In pieces after the sledging". There’s Goatse, Tubgirl and Bottleguy to name but a few. Sure, they’re in bad taste, but they’re in my taste. That’s what important here. Me. :)

    I think its cruel. A group of 16 year olds don’t deserve to be picked on liked this. They are kids, a bit of empathy would be nice, I know if it was my daughter I would be horrified by the jokes. Jokes about celebrity deaths is one thing, they are in the public eye and deal with that sort of attention all the time. But her parents don’t deserve this. They have just lost a child, which is one of the worst things that can happen to someone, to have thousands of people making jokes about it on top of that must be awful.
    It may be Sickipedia’s (and their users) perogative to post sick jokes but if it was me, I’d lay off the non-celebs.

    @sig

    I’d be pissed off too, but I’d also expect it.

    Don’t want to hear the jokes, don’t go to Sickipedia.

    What proof do you have of the guy being sentenced for allegedly posting jokes on sickipedia? We know of no such incident ever taking place.

    Fair comments above. It is a real shame for anyone that is affected by terrible situations through out the world but it is in the name and no-one is forced to log into sickipedia and read what is there.

    The jokes are for all to read and appreciate, if you don’t like them don’t read them. Posters maybe crack jokes about certain real life situations but that doesn’t mean that they are actually bad people who believe what they write. (Well with the one exception, but he is Australian after all) It is all ment to be in good jest and give the reader a bit of humour to lighten his/her day.

    If you want to complain about something how about finding something worth while and leave sickipedia and the likes alone. Instead you could put your efforts into something more important, like the ecconomy collapse and the bankers stealing everyones hard earned cash.
