Karma.

Seeing as I’m seeing a lot of evidence for it right now, I’m just going to reel off my (totally unrealistic, and I know it) belief in karma. You practice what you preach, I suppose, so yeah. Here’s my interpretation of how karma works – not just that it merely exists.

Karma is a integral part of the cause and effect pattern of life important in the religions prominent in southern India – Those like Sikh and Buddhist families practice the active rejection of karma in order to become something better in the next life.

The western interpretation of karma is a little different. Ours (assuming you don’t get all religious about it) is a fairly "simple" process. It can be summed up with "You get what you give". If you do something awesome out of the kindness of your heart to help someone else, then someone or something will help you. Alternatively, if you screw someone over really bad, expect bad things to happen to you.

Think My Name Is Earl and you’ve pretty much got it. That guy who’s in it (hmm… what’s his name…) is known for his run-ins with the law and loses a winning lottery ticket when he crashes his car. When he decides to change his life around, he finds this lottery ticket and then uses this money to get good karma on his side. Good going… dude…

But there’s been a good few things recently that have attributed themselves to karma. Something today which would be totally inappropriate to share here, but those involved know what I mean. But we’ve got things like illness, forgotten work and general making an asshat of themselves today just because it’s people getting too big for their boots.

I mean, I’m far from free of karma. I mean, I made an overly sarcastic comment about a friend’s unfortunate circumstances and the Cobblers go and lose a very important game. But it seems like for anything good I try and do, bad things happen in one instance, but good things pop up to outweigh it. So I’m thinking I’m not doing the good things right.

So what about you? Do you believe in karma? Can you recall any sort of instance of you or someone else doing something good/bad and getting their just desserts for it? Let me know (Y’know, comment and stuff. :) )

you shouldn’t try and do good, thats not the point. The point is that you /are/ a good person and do good things without actively trying to do them. Hope that makes sense lol
