April 4th is World Pillow Fight Day, if you didn’t know already. Lots of different events are held globally. There’s one in Texas, Toronto and… oh, Northampton.
So yeah. Naturally, I wanted to join in anything backed by the Flashmob people. John got a bit excited about the whole thing, so we planned a day around it. Seeing as Ben’s party meant I didn’t get an awful lot of sleep, I had to love and leave the people I was talking on MSN to rather abruptly to get some sleep, and didn’t wake up until about noon. I’m a bad child.
Eventually, Nadine, John and I met up in town, donning our pillows. Well, John didn’t take one from work, and Nadine had one but didn’t want to take part. So John stole it. When we heard the cry, we all charged in there like maniacs. It drew quite a crowd.
There was a pillow fight going on in the middle of the market square, and some people weren’t even phased by it. Of course a crowd of people circled the event, but most people were like "Huh. There’s something random happening. Best go get my Boots Meal Deal now before they run out of my Hoisin Duck wraps…"
We left after 10 minutes had past, because you can’t really withstand that much running around, dodging, whacking and headshots for any longer. It went on for about 15 minutes, where there was a sound of applause from spectators and participants. It was all rather jolly. Then we went on the hunt for Nadine’s sunglasses.
First stop was to H&M. I’ve never been upstairs in H&M before, and it was an enlightening experience up there. We spent a long while looking for sunglasses, which we found eventually on a second visit. While they’ve spent more time on me and Jordan than Nadine since, though, isn’t the point.
I’m not the best shopper, if you hadn’t guessed, so I got a bit iffy with it after a while. But Nadine had John – who handily works in Peacocks – to ask fashion advice and whatnot, so it was all good.
They also randomly got me a hat which, if you hadn’t guessed, now just gets shared around with people and appears in different pictures. Like this one.
Then town got a bit boring, so we drove down to Sixfields for something to do. There’s a fair on, so we went to that. Me and Nadine had a go on the bumper cars and the Waltzers, as John doesn’t particularly like fairground rides. Fair enough. We need someone to hold our stuff. Thanks John.
Nadine won a lovely little bear on a Hook-a-duck, who was named George on our way to the cash points in Sainsbury’s. By now Jordan had joined us, and ripped the cute bag he was sitting in. Aww, Jordan…
We come out of Sainsbury’s with a bag of nuts, Jordan somewhat hyper (which is the same thing) and no money, so we stopped off at Boots on the way back to get money.
Then we went to Pizza Hut because people were hungry. Even though I hadn’t eaten anything but a small bit of chocolate that day, I wasn’t all that hungry, so I just had some wedges. Steve Kay randomly joined us, and just wouldn’t stop talking about his homo-erotic feelings, if I remember correctly…
But it’s then we ran out of stuff to do. So we sort of… went into my car while we waited for Jordan’s stepdad to arrive. We listened to music (Club Classics on Heart is perhaps the best radio show ever), talked and took MySpace photos. Some were pretty awesome, but most really weren’t. It’s a shame we had to delete some because Nadine’s camera’s memory wasn’t big enough. Darn.
Then we drove home, and I could sleep in a bed for a change. Ahh, I never noticed a bed was so relaxing. Thanks to the extra pillow I randomly gained via John from the pillow fight, I got a goooooood nights kip. Ahh.
