So, after 13 years of hard graft (well, 14 if you count the reception years, but they weren’t exactly hard, now, were they?), which works out at roughly 3640 school days, it all comes to an end. I am no longer, technically, at school.
It’s a shame to leave NSB. I mean, I bitch about it constantly, but it really is a good school. Its results are far superior to anywhere of a similar calibre in Northampton or, indeed, in the UK. It’s got nice buildings, nice teachers and, best of all, the nicest students.
Seriously, at NSB (and the other schools too, don’t forget) I’ve met so many amazing people. It just takes one look at the yearbook just to see how fantastic people are there. So I thought it was best to give them a parting gift. A gift to say "Thanks for the memories. Remember me by loving this."
I was on a bit of a creative stretch last weekend. So I popped down to Hobbycraft and got a few bits and bobs to make some lovely presents. Not really knowing what to get, I scouted around for inspiration. I get some blue puffy things, blue pipe cleaners, stick-on googly eyes and some small boxes and decide to make these delightful little creatures. I call them ‘mites’, but you can call them what you like.
The next little task was to decorate them. I mean, plain brown boxes are a bit crap to be honest. There’s three styles of box – The smaller ones had random designs on them, the medium sized ones were houses with little back-stories for their mite’s inside the lid, and the large ones had pipe cleaner feet which allowed them to hop like frogs when you bounced them. Cute. Each mite has their own little name, be it Bob, Benji or Barry (The three big boxes had their mites called Larry, Barry and Harry. Aww…)

Then came the lovely little letters. There were more of these than the little mite things because, well, not everyone appreciates a piece of blue fluff with two eyes Pritt-sticked on to it, funnily enough. There’s a good 25 of these little letters of remembrance, just generally saying how each person is awesome in their own little way. Sort of ruined the impact by writing the same thing in people’s yearbook, but whatever.
So there we go. A lovely little home-made farewell for the people that made the last five years of my mainstream education somewhat bareable. Thanks again, guys.
Look out for Leaver’s Day pictures up on Facebook sometime soon. Everyone loves memories…
