My 18th Birthday

Oh noes!So after being alive for 6575 days, it finally arrived, my 18th birthday. I’m sure it’s different in whatever other country you come from, but here in England, becoming 18 is pretty much the start of adulthood. I mean, you can drink, gamble and enter competitions on This Morning. I mean, what else do you need to be able to do with your life?

The original plan was to team up with Becky’s birthday celebrations and go out in town on my birthday night with pretty much everyone we both knew who could do. But then she decided to randomly work that day, so it’s now happening next week. But it left me with a big, fun-time shaped hole in my day. What to fill that with… hmm…

Monies! <3 After pattering around for people who could come, and vague ideas of meal + fun, we arrived at the conclusion to kill two birds with one stone – Have a meal and see Master Bates at work. That’s right, Simon, Carl, John, Jordan, Andy, Harry and myself were heading to La Galleria.

Now have you ever been in a situation where you feel like you’re a bit out of place? Well, yeah, that’s what La Galleria is like. It’s very… up market is what I can say. It’s a place where you can’t just ask for what you want to eat, you have to point at it on the menu. I just went for whatever was easiest to pronounce, then realised afterwards that wearing a white shirt and ordering Spaghetti Bolognese was a bad idea, especially for as expensive as it was. Good thing people got me money for my birthday…

Penis-shaped Balloon Hat Then we headed over to Sixfields for a bit of midnight bowling, where we bumped into Will, who said he’d been waiting for us to come so he could bowl with us. Aww. :) But yeah, we were late thanks to some chef taking forever to cook our food. But then he had to leave by the time we got there. Sad times when Harry had to leave too, but we acquired a Jake. So all’s good.

We played a couple of games of pool then went to do some midnight bowling. The lanes were messing us about a bit, which sucked. Me and Jordan got our first and only strikes when they randomly switched off the lanes half way through. How rude. We put some music on the jukebox too, but the thing didn’t play our songs until we were just leaving. Ahh, never mind. At least we got a bit of Soft Cell and Gina G in. Aren’t we cool.

Poor, deflated balloon dog... Oh, and Bates randomly had modelling balloons, so made me a hat which sort of turned into a penis. Joy.

Then 1am rolled round and everyone disappeared. After watching a little fight go on between a bouncer and some random arrogant idiot, my sister picked me up and we went home. All good things must come to and end. But hey, I had fun. Even if the bar did close stupidly early, at least I got a couple of drinks down me on my 18th, half courtesy of Will anyway. :P

Love in a birthday card. ^^ *CLICK ME!* So while it was a little last minute thanks to exams, bailouts and what not, I had a pretty decent birthday. Thanks to all the people who got me presents, cards and the like. Especially my school friends… and their friends. They clubbed together and got me a satnav and a lovely signed birthday card, which you can see just there. Aren’t they just lovely?

Thanks to everyone who wished me happy birthday everywhere too. Good luck with all your exams, have a great summer and don’t forget Timi’s birthday tomorrow!
