So, A-Levels are done…

Apparently I have been working for two years for a few letters on a piece of paper, which came out today. Wow. That was totally worth it.

Ahh, I see what you’re thinking. You’re thinking "Matt, tell us how you’ve done. We’ve all been on tenterhooks ever since you did that blog post about them!". Patience, dear child. I’ll get there, I’ll get there.

Firstly, let’s outline the general sort of lead up to today. Since I got back from Canada, sleeping has been effort. I mean serious effort. I’d go to bed at midnight, lie there until about 5am, then drift off and wake up every hour until about midday. I mean, I would get up at one of these hours, but all I remember is seeing the time. Me fail.

This happens again this morning, apart from I’m staying awake at about 7am this time. At about half past, my mum comes in looking for my post-its and a pen. She then asks me all about my A-levels and uni choice. Bit of a random thing to just burst in to someone’s room for, but no, she was going to be interviewed on the radio. Yeah, about me. All she did was text in saying that exams aren’t getting easier because she’d seen my Maths papers before. They rang her back, asking to be interviewed. Huh.

She disappeared out of my room, and my first instinct is to go onto Facebook on my iPod. I see peoples statuses saying things like "Congratulations! You have an offer for a place on suchandsucha course!" and immediately thought of one thing – UCAS. It must’ve updated.

So I got up, tuned in the radio to Radio Northampton and heard the overly-cheering breakfast guy talk about my education with my mum. I’d become some sort of case study. At the same time I’m loading up UCAS to see if I got my place or not. Only suckers wait for their results to come through.

Turns out I had got a place, when UCAS eventually decided to load up for me. Fantastic. That’s a heavy load off of my shoulders. I really didn’t think I could pull off an overall B in Maths, but I must have done for them to accept me. So it was merely a waiting game until I could collect those letters off of a piece of paper. I wasn’t particularly nervous, as I knew these letters would be at least a B, a C and another C, or better.

So I get there (in the rain, in true British style) and go up to Jack’s mum to get my results. Turns out that’s just what I got – B C C. Okay, so I got a C in Geography by 7 marks, but meh, a C’s a C. I got a C in General Studies, if anyone cared, not that the university did. With fair right.

But one thing’s got my goat. Today, I found out I got my first ever perfect score on an exam. Something I could ever dream about. What subject? General Studies. The Science, Maths and Technology one. The test which is half multiple choice and half essay. I suck at essays. Apparently, I could write for days about Facebook. Gooooo NERDPOWER!

Ehh. Average results, I feel. But now I’ve got to go and get ready to rave. Yeah, I’m just that cool…
