7 Things Review – September

Three quarters of the years done already? Wowsers, where’s the time gone? Well, this month it’s gone into leaving parties, university and London trips. Fun times and all that with good people, so it’s not been a bad month.

So how can I break down my month in seven aspects, so it sounds less impressive? Well, your monthly life update should clear all that up… right… where shall we begin…

My posture

Straight up tickle.

Oh really. Can I seriously update you every month about my back. Geez, people, get a life! :P

Well, okay, a new start, I’ve been trying to give myself a bigger and bolder presence by staying up straight and proud. But, problem with that being that I don’t want to seem like a douche. Yeah, little difficult.

Me being me, also, I’ve been trying to keep my head down and not stick out like the sore thumb I usually am. So yeah. Nobody’s really picked up on it (not within earshot, anyway) which is always nice. Maybe the flatmates are too kind to pick up on my drawbacks…

Lack of henchness

What? Ninjas are hench...

Pfft. I’ve just moved to an entirely different part of the country and you’re calling me lazy? Well, yeah, you’re kind of right.

There’s intentions there, honest. I mean, it’s not difficult to get to a gym. There’s one five minutes walking distance away from here and one at the university, which is apparently good value for money. But it’s just… I don’t know… I can’t be paying for something I hate…

Now I’m without a car, I’m walking more places, so I’m getting more exercise. I have to climb three flights of stairs just to get back to the flat. That’s a treadmill type thing, isn’t it…?

Poor excuse for style

TICKLE MEEEEEEEE! RAWR!

Alright, alright, I’m a student. I have a budget, but it also kind of means I need to get going-out clothes. Not, like, a girl would do, but guy stuff. Y’know, like, a shirt…

Well, I got a few shirts, a couple of pairs of jeans and some socks. Yeah, I’m a real big spender. But that’s me for you. I got a couple of different stuff for fresher’s parties like the beach party. But they aren’t exactly every day clothes and not exactly stylish, are they?

I’ll have a look round Poole and see what’s around and John gave me Peacocks vouchers so I can go there… but Peacocks do bits of material and not clothes.

My nerdy lifestyle

Yeah, I owned that banshee...

Pyaw, pyaw, PYAW! Urr, yeah, since I moved into uni, this has kind of gone downhill again. That’s only because I’ve got so much spare time until my course starts, honest.

Tim – one of my new flatmates – is a keen Xbox 360 owner and kind of got me back into the swing of things. He convinced me to buy Halo 3: ODST (which does not stand for On Destruction Still True) which is awesome, but still a step in the wrong direction for this section. Whoopsy. And I got a Gold subscription too. Fail. But hey, it was cheap…

I can’t get my iPod to connect to the ResNet though, so I can’t use it like I did at home to constantly Plurk and check Facebook. But hey, there’s worse things in life that have happened…

My hairstyle

All the small things.

Yeah, I’m not that vain, but you need something to illustrate this point. You’ve come to expect it…

I got my haircut just before I went to uni so people seem to get used to me as the guy who has sort of short hair and not the massive hair I love, so it seems. But I like the haircut I had before, but hey, it’ll get back to that stage eventually.

I’m running out of my £1 hair gunk stuff. I think I’ll but another small pot of it again, and not something which claims to be better, because it blatantly isn’t…

Social ineptness

Nobody's at the door. =[

Hey, this is fresher’s fortnight. You expect me to stay in? Pfft, idiot…

Yeah, fresher’s. Full of free stuff, parties and excess alcohol intake. Also, crucially, it’s a time to get to know people. It’s certainly not a time to stay as a hermit in your room. You need to take the bull by the horns and seize the day. That’s exactly what I did.

I mean, I’m not going to let go of my time I spend on t’internet – that really would be out of character – but if you can’t get out during uni times, when nobody knows what sort of brain dead loser you are, when can you?

So yeah, now I’ve met a few new people on my IMP course, too. I haven’t had a chance to say hi to all of them, but I’ve at least spoken to a few of them. They all seem like nice people, with the odd exceptions you’d find anywhere else, of course.

Not a risk-taker

Yeah, I'll rip up your bus timetable because I'm a TEENAGE REBEL!

Umm, yeah. Can you say you stood on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square at 4 in the morning and taunted drunk people? No. Exactly. But I can. That’s pretty risky, even though I did only taunt the drunk people because they couldn’t reach me… nor could their roses. But hey ho.

I moved to a place three hours from all my home comforts, too. I thrust myself to living with complete strangers. That’s got to count to something in this section, surely?

Basically, I’ve gambled my future on the fact I’ll get on with these people and I do… so far. There’s going to be the inevitable ruckus that goes on, but on the whole right now we’re all pretty relaxed about life.

Right. That’s three quarters of the year done and dusted. I’m just off to Bournemouth for a nice little IMP social going on at Walkabout. So representing Corfe House, this is Matt signing out for now. =]
