Every year I generally write a blog post on who’s going to win that year’s X Factor. So far I think I’ve been wrong every time, so that (and the fact I haven’t actually seen it this year) would be the reason why I haven’t put it up here. Either way, I think everyone and their mum can guess who won.
Funnily enough, there’s people out there that don’t really like Simon Cowell. I wonder why that is. Maybe they don’t like his hairstyle.
Either way, there’s a campaign going on this year to get Rage Against The Machine’s Killing In The Name this year to make sure that gets the number one ahead of the almost mandatory X Factor single. Yeah, they’re trying to jack the charts again. You all know how that turned out last time.
There was an attempt to boycott the X Factor single last year by the same people, but to get Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up to the top spot. Unfortunately, that didn’t even chart. To think you could have rickrolled the nation on Radio 1. Chance wasted.
But they’re not going to waste their chance this time. Over 700,000 people have pledged to download the single, with that number increasing all the time (and has done by about 500 by the time I started writing the last paragraph).
The group was – for some reason – down earlier, but is now back up after the X Factor winner has been announced (suspiciously…). So now you can go purchase the rather explicit song now and stick two fingers to Simon Cowell in a way that won’t go to lining his swimming pool.
You can get it from anywhere which counts to the charts, but you’re most likely going to get it from downloads on iTunes or Play.com. Anywhere with it priced under 40p doesn’t count and you can’t buy it multiple times (well, you can, but don’t tell anyone or just send them as gifts).
It’ll be interesting to see where it charts. Earlier on today it was at 14, so see if it can go that little bit further. Tell your mother, tell your mum’s friends. Tell everyone to stick it to Simon Cowell. It’s the principle that counts. =]
