So, according to Jordan’s calendar it’s Make Up Your Own Holiday Day. How quaint. It’s a question I’d probably ask over Plurk or something, but I felt like I hadn’t blogged in a while thanks to that horrible little animation project. Also I like to waffle. What best place to do that than here, eh?
What’s so special about today? Well, it’s a Friday, that’s one thing. But the 26th March won’t always fall on a Friday. Maybe it should be something like “Act Like It’s Friday Day”. Have a whole day of just doing nothing much, listening to the radio in a sunny garden, kicking it back and taking your time over anything you don’t want to do. Ahh, sorted.
It’s also the last day of the two weeks of FM at Nerve Radio we’ve just done, so it could be a “Listen to Nerve Radio Day” where you just listen to me talk about nothing for a while. Sounds good. </lie>
You could look up what happened on this day in history. March 26th 1934 saw the introduction of the driving test in the UK. All you lovely youngens loving whoever thought that was a good idea. Well, I’m sure you’ll do fine as long as you don’t crash into stuff. What could today be, then? “Pass Your Driving Test Day”. Everyone over the age of 50 just takes their test again at the same time and I’ll just watch the chaos ensue simply around the Cock Hotel junction in Northampton. (Improvements my arse…).
It’s also technically Purple Day on the 26th, which I’m sure Jordan’s loving. It’s to raise awareness of epilepsy, y’see. The idea is to get people to wear something purple. So do it. Yes. Now. What, you don’t have something purple? Tosh, go buy something.
This day two years ago I was watching my old Boy’s Brigade compete in a marching competition. They never win, bless them. We never won when I was doing it, too. I shouldn’t mention I was to blame when we came the closest by not leapfrogging this other kid. Yeah, apparently leapfrogs are marching orders now. So it could be “Try Your Hardest Day” or “Admit Your A Failure Day” because they’ve not entered it since 2008. Hmm…
Then this time in 2009 it was Bournemouth Uni Post-Offer Day. That’s almost like a day title in itself. It’s a day full of social awkwardness and not really knowing what to do. Well, who knew I’d end up there a year on and still with the social awkwardness. Still knowing Steve, despite the lack of hair he now demonstrates. So it’s “You Can Do What You Aspire To Day”, also. Awesome.
So, blogosphere, what’s today to you?
